Although I have shown this picture before as one that I entered into a photo contest, I wanted to feature it again as a Monday Memory. This was taken two Christmases ago, and is my dad. He is reading a joke book he and my mom had gotten Amber as a gift.
Amber was in 1st grade when this picture was taken, and she was just learning the concept of telling jokes. She would sit in the car and struggle with the words, trying desperately to find one she could read so she could make us laugh. When she got frustrated, she would try to make up her own jokes. They weren't nearly as good as the jokes in the book, but I love the way it got her brain thinking.
Today Amber is just about ready to exit 2nd grade. She pretty much has no problem reading the joke book, and she still enjoys carrying it around finding ones that will make people laugh. She's the clown in our family.
I love that I have parents who have taken their job as grandparents so very seriously. They play with my kids, the laugh with my kids, and they discipline my kids when needed. Knowing my mom and dad are there makes life easier and more enjoyable. I don't know what I would do without them.
So, in honor of my dad and Amber, I leave you with a joke. It's not one I found in the joke book they both enjoy, but one I found on the internet. Have a memorable week!
A grasshopper walks into a bar and the bartender says, 'Hey, we have a drink named after you!'
The grasshopper looks surprised and says, 'You have a drink named Steve?'

Tell me your favorite joke!

What great parents you have!!! My parents do well, but struggle to discipline. They tell me that grandparents don't need to... and whenever my son goes there for the night or whatever, he regresses a bit. Makes it hard to want to bring him over! Thanks again for linking up!!!! Hope you are having a great week!
Thank you Kelsi. My parents have always been the neighborhood "parents," so they had some practice. My in-laws are similar to your parents, though, and I understand what you mean about making it hard.
I think your dad is one funny, cool grandpop! He was reading that joke book so that he can learn more jokes to crack to your family :-)
seth: My dad is an awesome grandfather! We spent hours that day hearing jokes, first from my dad, then from my daughter. It was a great way to spend Christmas! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Have a great day!
hehehe funny! my four year old discovered knock knock jokes this year! kids are funny. I wish my parents lived closer so they could be more a part of our lives
Mom vs. the boys: Kids are funny. I remember my girls trying to make up their own jokes. I'm so glad they have a book to refer to now! ;-)
It is really nice to have my parents close. Does your family keep in touch with the boys through letters and pictures?
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day.
Awww, nice! I'm awful when I TRY to tell a joke! It just doesn't sound funny! LOL
I completely understand, readingromances! I can have the best joke ever and ruin it. My daughter is pretty funny, though. Thank goodness she didn't get her humor from me.
